1905 Winston Churchill Signed Real Photo Postcard (PSA)
"I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat," said Winston Churchill, newly appointed Prime Minister of the United Kingdom as he addressed the House of Commons of Parliament on May 13, 1940, in his first speech to Parliament, given during the opening year of World War II. The speech was a rousing success. Displayed is a 1905 Winston Churchill signed and dated postcard. Churchill took office as the Prime Minister when he was in many ways unpopular with other British politicians and with many members of the public. Churchill later became a hero to the free world after he successfully guided England through the struggles of World War II. Churchill was actually Prime Minister twice. Initially, he served from 1940-45, and he was again Prime Minister from 1951-55. Churchill was born in England on Nov. 30, 1874. His father was Lord Randolph Churchill and his mother, Jenny Jerome, was an American. The photo on the black and white card shows Churchill in the 1905, the year he turned 31 years old. Churchill used blue ink from a fountain pen to sign the card on the bottom and date his signature "1905." The postcard displays a beautiful image and signature, with the postcard itself measuring approx. 3.5x5.3". The card is in excellent condition, with one minor crease to the bottom left corner. Two pieces of tape are on back from previous archiving, with handwriting in unknown hand. The signed postcard has been encapsulated and PSA/DNA certified as "AUTHENTIC." The offered signed postcard concerns one of the most famous heroes of Western Civilization, the leader of Britain's World War II fight, whose incredible, stirring speech, giving on June 4, 1940, after defeat to Nazi Germany in The Battle of France, inspired the embattled Britain to endure, declaring, "We shall fight in the fields, and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills, we shall never surrender."
