1906 New York Giants Program
There are ads for plastic surgery, beer, wine and whiskey plus vacations to Jamaica. This magazine could be from yesterday, right? Except this one has Christy Mathewson and Roger Bresnahan hawking Shredded Wheat inside. Remarkably preserved game program for the 1906 New York Giants features the team riding a stagecoach on the cover, trumpeting the World Series they won the year before. The scorecard of a game against Boston has even been filled out! The six pages are still crisp and gorgeous with the slightest yellowing. The orange tint on the cover and backpage ad for the one-cent Evening Mail is vivid even by today's standards. These Giants would not have as much to brag about next season because they finished second. But this 6-by-10 pamphlet is first-class vintage.
