1909 Forbes Field Original Turnstile

1909 Forbes Field Original Turnstile

The most coveted and rare of all ballpark turnstile designs. This winged symbol of gallant victory, defeat and a glorious time gone by ushered thousands - if not millions - of fans through the gates of the "House of Thrills" as the decades passed. Measuring 39" tall and 39" arm to arm, this choice relic from the venerable old venue is one of a kind. The base is broken into four sections, but the pieces most assuredly fit, while the foot pedal and arms are all very much in working condition still. The top of the metal turnstile bears the manufacturer name: "H.V. BRIGHT MAKER CLEVELAND, O." Named after the British general John Forbes, who fought in the French and Indian War, Forbes Field was one of the first of its kind to consist of concrete and steel, as it replaced Exposition Park. The first and last games ever played at Forbes were both Pirates games against the Chicago Cubs. The Pirates won three World Series at the ballpark, and some of its structure remain in place to this day.
