1910's-60's Dave Bancroft Photograph Collection (96)
Absolutely outstanding assortment of ancient photographs picture this Hall of Fame shortstop and manager, the strong majority in uniform, and dating back as far as spring training of 1915, his rookie season. A verbal description of this lot couldn't do it justice. Some are wire photos, some are cabinet photos, many are 8x10", with a few 5x7" or smaller. The earliest ones are inscribed to Bancroft in vintage NRMT black ink, including one reading, "Dear Dave, This was your first photograph in a National League uniform, St. Petersburg 1915, Yours, A.W.S." Very many from his playing days, with some just splendid action and team shots. Only a very few date from later in his life. Thousands and thousands of dollars worth of amazing vintage shots here. Condition is very strong, averaging EX-MT, which is exceptional for photos of this vintage. Acquired from the estate of Beauty himself.
