1910's Cleveland Indians Equipment Trunk (40x24x14")
Did it once carry Shoeless Joe's shoes? Nap Lajoie's glove? Tris Speaker's jersey? We can never know for sure, but one thing is certain--this large, wooden trunk traveled the rails with some of the greatest names in baseball's illustrious history. Simply manufactured yet remarkably sturdy trunk remains to this day in marvelous condition, with fully operational hinges and leather carrying handles. Most thrilling though is the ancient shipping label that is still affixed to the lid, reading, "Cleveland Ball Club, Hotel Roosevelt, New Orleans, La." Vintage script is charming, and has been remarkably spared by the age and wear that has tattered the edges of the paper. Another label affixed to the side is more difficult to read, though the words "Hotel" and "Cleveland Baseball Club" are easily discernable. Why display your vintage baseball memorabilia in modern cases when they'll be so much more at home in a piece like this, that invokes the spirit of the dead ball era like few other pieces can?
