1910 Battling Nelson v. Ad Wolgast Boxing Poster

1910 Battling Nelson v. Ad Wolgast Boxing Poster

Stunning stone litho from one of the bloodiest fights since the OK Corral. 1910 fight film poster is mounted on linen for one of the most anticipated rematches in boxing history (27.5x43"). Gorgeous color with swirling Victorian font reads, "Wolgast-Nelson Fight Pictures Bat. Nelson." Created by Riverside Printing Company, Milwaukee, printed at the lower right corner. Former champion, Battling Nelson had lost his lightweight title to Ad Wolgast in 1909. Wolgast gave Nelson a chance to regain his title in February of 1910. What ensued was one of the greatest and most brutal fights in boxing history. After 40 rounds, Nelson's eyes were so swollen that he could no longer see. Poster is in Excellent condition with slight restoration, light toning and a little bit of chipping at the edges.
