1910 T225 Prize Fighters Series 102 Complete Graded Set (25) #1 SGC Registry
The T225 set is a devilishly complex issue of 50 subjects. Card backs carry advertising for two series of 25 cards each, series 101 and series 102, with no overlapping subjects. The backs also advertise for a full framed set available for a dollar; the framed set may in fact be a reference to an advertising poster. Series 102 cards are considerably tougher to locate than series 101 cards. They have white borders, one variety of back, and very few big names. The only two HOFers in series 102 are Jack O'Brien (SGC 70) and Leo Houck (SGC 80). Houck is of particular interest because he has only two known regular issue cards, the T225 and an E77. Note that the "Ty Cobb" in the set is not the baseball player but is a Jewish boxer who took on the famous name as a ring name. This complete set of 1910 T225 Prizefighter Series 102 is #1 on the SGC registry and breaks down as follows: Billy Allen SGC 80 EX/NM 6, Kid Beebe SGC 60 EX 5, Thomas Carey SGC 55 VG/EX+ 4.5, Ty Cobb SGC 50 VG/EX 4, Freddy Corbett SGC 50 VG/EX 4, Tommy Devlin SGC 50 VG/EX 4, Bill Donovan SGC 60 EX 5, Young Erne SGC 40 VG 3, Mickey Gannon SGC 80 EX/NM 6, Grover Hayes SGC 80 EX/NM 6, Joe Hirst SGC 40 VG 3, Johnny Hogan 80 EX/NM 6, Leo Houck SGC 80 EX/NM 6, Patsey Kline SGC 50 VG/EX 4, Tommy Langdon SGC 50 VG/EX 4, Young Loughrey SGC 50 VG/EX 4, Harry Mansfield SGC 50 VG/EX 4, Young Nitchie SGC 80 EX/NM 6, Jack O'Brien SGC 70 EX+ 5.5, Tommy O'Keefe SGC 50 VG/EX 4, Tommy O'Toole SGC 40 VG 3, Spike Robson SGC 50 VG/EX 4, Maurice Sayers SGC 84 NM 7, Tommy Sullivan SGC 50 VG/EX 4 and Johnny Willetts SGV 80 EX/NM 6.
