1910s Baseball Photographs by Charles Conlon (28 Different)

1910s Baseball Photographs by Charles Conlon (28 Different)

Collection of twenty-eight different vintage baseball photos, each taken by renowned baseball photographer Charles Conlon. Twenty-five of the photos feature either Conlon's credit stamp or handwritten name on the reverse, while the other three all bear his distinctive handwritten player identifications on the reverse. All the photos picture an individual player, either in pose or warming up on the sidelines. The players represented here, as noted by Conlon's handwritten identification on the reverse, are as follows: Dutch Ruether, Howard Ehmke, Mike Doolan, George Burns. Ed Konetchy, Lee Magee, George Mogridge, Art Wilson, Rube Benton, Ray Morgan, Bob Groom, Larry Doyle, Jack Barry, Jaques Fournier, Reb Russell, Pete Kilduff, Pat Moran, Rube Oldring, Harry Davis, Roy Hartzell, Walter Holke, Oscar Dugey, Ossie Vitt, Hooks Wiltse (heavy editorial outlining of his image), Harry Wolter (heavy editorial outlining of his face), Fred Toney (heavy editorial outlining of his face), Dode Paskert, and Kenny (first name unknown; NY Giants player). All the photos measure approximately 7x9" or 8x10" except for those of Ruether (6.5x8.5"), Burns (7x5"), and Konetchy (4x5"). The majority date from the 1910s, but a few might be from the early 1920s. Nearly all display flaws common to working press photos, including, but not limited to, creases, edge tears, tack holes, and editorial shading and outlining to the player images. This collection originates from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive and most display Brown Brothers credit stamps on the reverse. While we believe that most, if not all of these photos are Type I originals, none of have been submitted to PSA, so no guarantees are made regarding specific Type designations.
