1910s Boston Garter In-Store Advertising Display Case

1910s Boston Garter In-Store Advertising Display Case

Rare Boston Garter retail display case, with glass-panel front, dating from the 1910s. The wooden case features "Boston Garter" painted on the glass panel, as well as each side. The hinged lid lifts up to reveal a Boston Garter trademark notice on the underside warning retailers that only Boston Garter products are to be displayed in the case. This is just the second Boston Garter display case we have ever seen and the only wooden example (the other was constructed of glass and metal). The name Boston Garter is well-known to baseball collectors because of the attractive baseball cards issued by the company between the years 1912 and 1914. Those cards, which featured many of the top stars from the era, including Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, and Christy Mathewson, are rare and highly sought after by collectors today. This box would be the perfect companion piece to any advanced Boston Garter card collection and would also be ideal for displaying the cards within if so desired. The case (14.25x10.5x7.5") is all original and displays moderate wear commensurate with its age and former use. In Excellent condition overall. Please note: the size and/or weight of this lot will necessitate an increased shipping charge.
