1910s Boston Red Sox Felt Pennant from Detroit Free Press
<p>Displayed is a very rare Boston (American League) pennant from the <em>Detroit Free Press</em>. The newspaper offered, for a very short time, pennants from American League teams for 15 cents and a headline from their paper. The pennant is approximately 30" in length and approximately 9" at the larger end. "Boston" is sewn on the pennant in felt blue/black/gray letters. Originally red, the banner exhibits some natural fading from age. There is a "Detroit Free Press" tag on the back, and the tag shows wear. The pennant is from the 1910s, which was a marvelous time for the Red Sox. They would add a pitcher named Babe Ruth, later turn Ruth into an outfielder, and win four World Series - in 1912, 1915, 1917, and 1918. By 1920, Ruth, and a number of other Red Sox stars, was traded to the New York Yankees, and the great run was over. This pennant is in excellent condition, and it remains a fitting remembrance to a glorious decade for the Boston Red Sox.</p>
