1910s Detroit Tigers Composition Doll

1910s Detroit Tigers Composition Doll

Only one extant of this composition doll that we are calling "Ty" because it sounds fitting. Ty's clothing is all original and sports a wonderful little Detroit Tigers complete uniform including the cap on his head. Ty Cobb from an old time Detroit Tigers collector going back 50 years who discovered it in his travels. There were a series of baseball dolls created in the 1910s that all have this similar look. There are specimens such as A.L. & N.L. (American & National League), Boston Red Sox, and Federal League, all of which are highly desired by both doll and baseball collectors. This is one of them, and equally rare if not rarer.Does this doll resemble the one and only Ty Cobb? All we know is that we put it down and it slid into third and spiked Heff. Spikes up.
