1910s Fan-Taz Baseball Syrup Dispenser

1910s Fan-Taz Baseball Syrup Dispenser

The ultimate merger of antiques advertising and sports memorabilia. Highly glazed porcelain figural baseball dispenser designed in the shape of a baseball with an image of a bat, the seams of the ball are in relief and painted gold. One of the most attractive baseball advertising pieces ever, this porcelain syrup dispenser is a classic piece and exceptionally rare. The dispenser features the name "Fan-Taz" with images of baseballs drawn into the "Fan-Taz" logo. Large lettering in red, with illustration of a baseball bat appearing directly below. The slogan, "Drink of the 'Fans,'" appears on the bottom panel of the "ball," while the circular base proclaims the fact that Fan-Taz is "A Pennant Winner." The price of the drink, "5 cents," appears on either side of the piece. Porcelain dispensers such as these were found in drugstores, general stores, and ice cream parlors during the early 1900s. The chrome pump on top would dispense the sweet syrup, add seltzer or bubbled water and "voila" soda for the customer. This is the only baseball-themed of the highly collectible syrup dispensers ever produced. Original pump mechanism fits snugly inside, measures 15" high, no chips or cracks, minor crazing and a bit of wear to the gold of the baseball seams and accenting lines. Overall condition is EX-MT.
