1911 T3 Turkey Red #17 Clarke Griffith Proof (SGC)
T3 Turkey Red proof card of Hall of Famer Clark Griffith, encapsulated and certified as "Authentic" by SGC (SGC does not grade proof cards). T3 Turkey Red proofs are rare. This is just the fourth example we have offered in the past twenty-five years and we have seen few others at auction. Interestingly, all of the approximately seventy different T3 proofs known in the hobby originate from a single find in the early 1970s, when they were discovered by family members of a gentleman who once worked for the printing company that produced them. The offered example displays an overall Excellent to Mint appearance, with sharp corners, bright colors, and just a few specks of age toning on the blank reverse. It should be noted that this card has been in our consignor's collection for several decades and was submitted by Lelands for encapsulation by SGC.
