1911 World Series John McGraw and Harry Davis Original Glass Plate Negative
Original glass plate negative picturing Giants manager John McGraw shaking hands with Philadelphia Athletics captain Harry Davis prior to a 1911 World Series game. McGraw is wearing a special all-black uniform that the club wore only during the World Series that year. Despite their sartorial splendor, the Giants proved no match for Connie Mack's powerful Philadelphia Athletics, who defeated the Giants in six games to capture their second consecutive World Championship. The notation "McGraw + Capt. Davis Athletics" is written along the top border. The negative (7x5") displays a few tiny areas of emulsion loss near the top border and is in Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive.
