1912 Crowd Awaiting the Titanic Survivors Photograph (PSA Type I)

1912 Crowd Awaiting the Titanic Survivors Photograph (PSA Type I)

Original Type I photo capturing the crowd awaiting the return of the Titanic survivors in Southampton, England. Southampton was the port from which the Titanic departed on April 10, 1912. Of the over 900 crew members on the Titanic, more than 720 were residents of Southampton. Unfortunately, only 124 of those Southampton citizens survived the disaster. This photo pictures the friends and relatives of those crew members waiting their return, including a crying baby. Five Brown Brothers credit stamps appear on the reverse, along with a descriptive label and handwritten notations. The photo (6x8") displays a small edge tear and a few light-to-moderate creases. In Very Good condition overall. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive. PSA encapsulated as Type I Authentic.
