1912 Negro League Cabinet Photo

1912 Negro League Cabinet Photo

Astonishing rare Cuban cabinet card from 1912 shows a native ballplayer named Julian Fabelo, who beginning in 1916 would play in the Negro leagues with the Cuban Stars. The 4.25x6" image has an ephemeral, light golden sheen and is EX save for minor darkening at the edges. Bottom front reads "Clara Garcia de Bravo, Sagua La Grande." On back is a personal inscription dated February 20, 1912 written and signed by Fabelo, which while faded is readable. Surely one of the earliest available Negro league signatures, and a great piece of Cuban baseball history.
