1912 Titanic Photograph (PSA Type I)

1912 Titanic Photograph (PSA Type I)

Original Type I photo capturing the Titanic as she sets off on her maiden voyage from Southampton, England, in 1912. Incredibly, the scene pictured here shows a near-disaster averted before the Titanic even set sail. According to the handwritten caption on the reverse, the suction of the Titanic's propellers tore the smaller American liner, the New York, from its moorings and the two vessels almost collided as a result. The photo has been backed with an affixed paper label, but enough of the label around the two bottom corners has loosened that a Brown Brothers credit stamp can be seen on the reverse. The paper label also bears three Brown Brothers credit stamps, along with the aforementioned written caption. The photo (7.75x5") displays two small edge tears, a few light creases, and is affixed to a paper backing. In Very Good condition overall. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive. PSA encapsulated as Type I Authentic.
