1912 Woodrow Wilson Letter

1912 Woodrow Wilson Letter

One year before he would be elected the 28th President of the United States, New Jersey Governor Woodrow Wilson signed this typed letter to the Hon. Charles E. Simpson, indicating to him that as "the plot thickens" heading toward the Democratic Covention in Baltimore that "it would be very useful and effective" to have as many friends attend as possible. Perhaps a sign of vulnerability for the candidate? The yellowing letter on New Jersey state letterhead reveals some age spots as well as tape residue on the corners but otherwise displays as EX after more than a century.
