1913-1914 World Tour Team Photograph with Jim Thorpe (PSA Type III)

Vintage photo capturing members of the New York Giants and Chicago White Sox who participated in the famous 1913-1914 World Tour. Eleven players are pictured posing together on the field, including Jim Thorpe, Red Faber, Hans Lobert, and Hooks Wiltse. Each player is dressed in his respective team uniform (some are wearing tour sweaters), which includes a specially designed World Tour cap. 1913 marked Thorpe’s first season of Major League baseball. Even though he only appeared in 19 games with the Giants and batted .143, he was still invited on the World Tour because of his international fame earned at the 1912 Summer Olympics, where he won two gold medals. Five Brown Brothers credit stamps appear on the reverse, along with an affixed typed identifier. A few additional identifiers, both written and printed, also decorate the reverse. The photo (8" x 5.5”) displays a three-inch vertical tear that has been repaired on the reverse with brown tape, as well as a few additional edge tears and light creases. Additional pieces of tape, not in repair of any tears, are also on the reverse. Good condition overall. Culled from the Legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive. PSA encapsulated as Type III Authentic.
