1913 First Ever Game at Ebbets Field Newspaper
Birth of a ballpark. This rare photo montage from the New York Times illustrates the inaugural baseball game at the renowned and beloved Ebbets Field... an exhibition game between the hometown Dodgers and rival Yankees, who would own the Bums for as long as the park would stand (45 years), minus 1955. The game occurred four days before the Dodgers would play Philadelphia in the first "official" game at the storied stadium. The Dodgers would win the game, as well as a bunch of new fans.
