1913 Willie Ritchie vs. Joe Rivers Program

1913 Willie Ritchie vs. Joe Rivers Program

1914 Lightweight Championship poster of the Willie Ritchie versus Joe Rivers fight in San Francisco. Ritchie was a skilled boxer, with fast hands and feet. His challenger for the world Lightweight Championship was Rivers, a brawler who was full steam ahead. This was Ritchie's first Lightweight title defense, and Rivers came out hard, but after a few rounds, Ritchie took over the fight and knocked out the challenger in the 11th round. The program, 10x13", has both fighters on the cover, each dressed in the top fashion of the times with straw hats. The program has 26 pages. The program does show wear. It has creasing from when it was folded in half. There are small stains and some minor paper loss, such as on the cover page in the lower left corner. The pages are intact and the boxing information includes predictions on the fight from numerous notables. In addition, the advertisements are like a trip into the past and worth reading on their own.
