1913 World Series Philadelphia Athletics Pennant - Recent Discovery

1913 World Series Philadelphia Athletics Pennant - Recent Discovery

This 1913 World Series Philadelphia Athletics pennant represents the finest in baseball textile art and a strikingly large format (30" long). It was most likely purchased as a pair, together with the equally phenomenal John McGraw Giants pennant at the 1913 World Series which is also available for purchase in this auction. This magnificent felt pennant is for the winning team from this historic series, and has a detailed and exceptional image of of a player with a pillbox, which is interesting as Philadelphia was the only team which wore the “pill box” cap after 1905. This old-fashioned style evidently worked wonders as Connie Mack’s club won four American League pennants and three World Series Championships during the six years the cap was worn. Condition is EX+.
