1914 Baseball Grand World Tour Japan Program Cover

1914 Baseball Grand World Tour Japan Program Cover

The earliest world tour in the history of sports is the around-the-world series of games planned and promoted by John “Mugsy” McGraw of the Giants, the most successful manager in baseball. The cover from this 1914 program shows a Japanese player in uniform shaking the hand of a New York Giants player, as the Giants at this time were still the marquee name in baseball. Printed in Japan, possibly on rice paper, measures 7x10" with a metal plaque immortalizing it's place in history.
