1914 Cracker Jack Group (15 Cards)
Issued in 1914 and again in 1915, this lot from the 1914 issue is considered the tougher of the two issues. Printed on a thin paper stock and inserted in boxes of Cracker Jacks, the cards are susceptible to creasing and staining from the candy-coated caramel popcorn. This lot contains some high-end examples from the issue. The cards are professionally graded by SGC as follows: #55 Richard Howblitzel SGC 84 NRMT, #144 James Walsh (last card in the set) SGC 84 NRMT, #119 George Perring SGC 84 NRMT, #70 Fred Clarke SGC 80 EX-MT, #94 Ed Cicotte SGC 80 EX-MT, #71 John Meyers SGC 60 EX, #85 Charlie Herzog SGC 60 EX, #32 Mordecai Brown SGC 60 EX, and #17 Roger Bresnahan SGC 40 VG. The balance of the lot averages about VG-EX and includes #’s 9, 51, 54, 86, 134, and 135. A superb opportunity to get started on this classic issue.
