1914 Miracle Braves Beer Stein w/Fabulous Handpainted "Brave"

1914 Miracle Braves Beer Stein w/Fabulous Handpainted "Brave"

High glazed mocha pottery mug is handpainted with emblazoned Indian in special transitional art nouveau/art deco design. Look is definitely from the Arts & Crafts period of American art and design. Only one we have ever seen, this was originally sold by us to a Boston collector in the mid-1980s. It has resurfaced (finally) and is a pleasure to behold. Standing a total of 7" tall including the original hand welded pewter lid. Artwork in brilliant and fanciful colors is absolutely magnificent. Depicts proud Native American of the period in period headdress befitting a Tribal Chief. Quality is of the artwork is worthy of the great finest American Art Pottery manufacturers of the period such as Rookwood. Could be either American or German. Only marking is on the bottom a "12." The lid steers us to German but the artwork is likely U.S. The mug could have been a German stock piece imported to the United States. Likely a custom order perhaps for insiders of the club as we have not seen another. Best of all, on the verso are the leaders of the team imprinted, "Stallings, Mgr...Evers, 2nd. B. CAPT." NM condition, this one is a wow.
