1915 Jack Johnson vs Jess Willard Cuban Broadside
After being hidden in the pages of a book for nearly a hundred years, this broadside which surfaced from a 1915 fight between Jess Willard and Jack Johnson may just be the only one of its kind. The 9 x 14” piece was most likely posted at a hotel for Americans visiting Havana for this infamous bout. Due to the unforgiving Caribbean climate and the embargo on Cuba since Castro’s rise to power, paper documents from this era are very difficult to come by, making this broadside truly unique, and perhaps one of a kind. There are four distinct fold lines but otherwise the document rates as NRMT condition, truly remarkable due to its origin.
