1916 Boston Red Sox World Championship Presentational Pocket Watch

Player's pocket watch was one of the official World Series awards presented to the Red Sox and American League in lieu of rings. This gorgeous piece was presented to outfielder and long-time baseball veteran Charles C. Shorten for his contributions to the World Championship bereft franchise. "Gruen Veri-Thin" is an octagonal gold masterpiecce. Back is engraved, "World's Champions - 1916" in a stupendous baseball design. The verso of the watch has a lid that opens and reveals the brilliantly engraved name of the presentee, "Chas. C. Shorten." All-important manufacturing trademarks are present. Interesting note: this Red Sox Championship team featured a rookie pitcher named Ruth. Ex-Barry Halper collection.
