1916 Cleveland Indians Articles of Incorporation

1916 Cleveland Indians Articles of Incorporation

A very important two page document, this transferred title of the Cleveland Baseball Company to a group headed by James "Jack" Dunn. Under this new ownership, the Indians would go on to capture the World's Championship just four short years later. Dated February 25, 1916, the first page is signed by Dunn and four others, while the second page is signed by the Ohio Secretary of State and has the state seal affixed. The document has some typical folds and water stains at the top of the second page. Dunn passed away in 1922 but his wife and other members of his group controlled the team until 1928. A wonderful piece of history for the Cleveland Indians, the city of Cleveland and the state of Ohio.
