1916 James Naismith Real Photo Postcard
One-of-a-kind real photo postcard of James Naismith on a horse while serving as the Chaplain of the First Kansas Infantry at the Mexican border in Texas. The front of the card has "1916" written in pen, while the reverse has some writing and scrapbook remnants. This item comes directly from the Naismith estate. Naismith is credited with inventing the game of Basketball, but remained humble about his accomplishment throughout his life, refusing to have the game named after himself and declaring that seeing Basketball become an official Olympic sport was the greatest compensation he could have ever received.
