1916 Shawkey & Covaleski 16 Inning Tie Piedmont Cigarettes Poster

1916 Shawkey & Covaleski 16 Inning Tie Piedmont Cigarettes Poster

On May 19, 1916, the Yankees and Tigers battled to a 2-2 tie after 16 futile innings at the Polo Grounds, with Detroit going scoreless over the last 15. This ad from Piedmont - the "ALL Virginia Cigarette" company - showcases two participants in that marathon: Bob Shawkey and Harry Coveleski, as well as a third photo of a muzzle being blown off of an anti-aircraft gun. The folded, 18.5x12.5" poster is in EX condition.
