1916 World Series Photograph - Olson Safe at Third! (PSA Type I)
Original Type I photograph capturing Brooklyn Robins shortstop Ivy Olson sliding safely into third base during the 1916 World Series against the Boston Red Sox. Located on the reverse are a New York Herald credit stamp, an "Oct 12, 1912" date stamp, and the original paper news caption. Although the caption doesn't state which game this is, research indicates that Olson's triple occurred in the fifth inning of Game 3. Olson's hit drove in two runs, giving Brooklyn a 4-0 lead in what was an eventual 4-3 victory. The win was Brooklyn's only one in the Series, which the Red Sox won in five games to capture their second consecutive World Championship. The photo (6.5x8.5") displays a tear in the upper right corner and light creasing. In Good to Very Good condition. PSA encapsulated as Type I Authentic.
