1918 Cleveland Indians Yearbook
Exquisite early yearbook put out for twenty-five cents by the Cleveland Indians in 1917. The "sketch book", as it's called, is a beautiful piece of work, published on nice stock with photos, thumbnail sketches and head shots for each player, a view of League Park, and team stats as good as some ten-dollar yearbooks of today. Green and maroon cover features a serious-looking Indian chief in headdress, but the team's big chief was the great Tris Speaker, who jumped from Boston to Cleveland in 1916 and would lead the Tribe to a title in 1920 as player-manager. Speaker is seen in a photo being honored. Other players include Ray Chapman, Stan Coveleski, Elmer Smith, Joe Wood. Book is 4 1/2 x 7", EX-MT all the way.
