1919 Honus Wagner Signed Check Display (PSA)

1919 Honus Wagner Signed Check Display (PSA)

Bank check, dated January 14, 1919, signed by Honus Wagner. The check, drawn on the Carnegie National Bank of Carnegie, Pennsylvania, is made out to "J. H. Bensen" in the amount of $10.50. Signed "J. H. Wagner Treas" in black fountain pen (grading 8/10). Above Wagner's signature is the written notation "Carnegie Home Defense Police." Although we have been unable to find any additional information about the "Carnegie Home Defense Police," it is interesting to note that this is one of three checks we have seen signed by Wagner as treasurer of the organization, all of which were dated January, 1919, and made out in the amount of $10.50. The check (6.75x2.75"), which is mounted by means of photo corners, displays a slight vertical fold and normal bank cancellation holes, a few of which touch upon the Wagner signature. In apparent Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Matted together with black-and-white photo of Wagner (6.75x9", modern print), a reproduction T206 tobacco card of Wagner, a 2002 eTopps Classic card of Wagner, and a descriptive plaque. Full LOA from PSA.
