1919 Jess Willard vs. Jack Dempsey Full Tickets (7)
Just over a century ago - on July 4, 1919 - Jess Willard lost the Heavyweight Title against Jack Dempsey in Toledo, Ohio, a fight that would be considered one of the most brutal in the sport's history. Featured in this lot are seven (7) full tickets to that 1919 bout. All tickets are different colors and almost all are different tiers, including two ringside (marked at an extremely pricey $60 each), two inner circle, outer circle, bleacher and reserved bleacher. The tickets are a sizable 6.75x2.75" one has writing on the front, and rest are in nice condition, grading EX overall. Willard, who had soared to fame after defeating Jack Johnson in 1915, was fighting sparingly in those days and took a severe beating from the younger Dempsey before being unable to answer the bell for the fourth round.
