1920's-70's Heavyweight Championship Wire Photographs from the Files of Boxing News & Boxing World (175)
Spectacular lot of photographs are all from the files of the British magazines Boxing News and Boxing World once used in their publishing. All are of incredible quality and the vast majority are either British wire photos or photographer's own personally printed images with their stamps on the versos. The collection begins in the 1920's and extends over five decades to the late 70's with focus on the great heavyweights. Includes: Joe Frazier (38): Fantastic series of high quality oversized images from Frazier-Bugner (7), three from Ali-Frazier II (beaten up bad at press conference, weigh-in, wave of defeat), some early poses, Manila training, Tale of the Tape and fights versus Stander (4), Bugner (8), Foreman (2), Foster (2) and a great series of 10 Foreman-Frazier (press conference, victory reaction, sparring, his prediction, weigh-in, and Frazier getting beat about the ring. George Foreman (22): victory motorcade, fight vs. Norton, great poses, and super ring action (10). Jack Dempsey (12): Nine as an older man including his reunion with Georges Carpentier. Also, three exceptional 1920's wire photos featuring Dempsey "wingspan" and his bout with Sharkey. Floyd Patterson (12) : getting hit by Ali, other classic poses and four from his defeat at the hands of Liston. Roberto Duran (32): most dating from 1972, the finest we heve seen include very early fights and his match with Buchanan. Miscellaneous: Robinson-Turpin, Tyson vintage color photos (4), Marciano vs. Walcott and the weigh-in (5), Ken Norton (9) include win over Ali, two early Holmes, and 13 Cuban boxers in the 1972 Olympics. All have been handpicked from thousands of images and all are in EX condition.
