1920 Bill Wambsganss "Wamby" Matchbook Holder

1920 Bill Wambsganss "Wamby" Matchbook Holder

Extremely unusual solid brass matchbook holder was presented to Bill Wambsganss after his incredible World Series of 1920. He of course completed the only unassisted triple play is series history. Measuring 2.5x1.75" it is vintage engraved "Wamby 1920". Over the last few years some engraved fakes such as cigarette cases & flasks have invaded the market with big names like Babe Ruth. This is no such thing. The quality of the vintage engraving is early and exceptional, virtually impossible to replicate today. Plus, this is fresh to the market from an Cleveland area early collector we know intimately. He has owned it for roughly 35 years. Originally, it was purchased in Cleveland from prominent paper dealer Paul Knapp. LOA from Lelands standing by the piece 100%.
