1920’s Era Four Horsemen Photo (7”x9”)
“In dramatic lore they are known as Famine, Pestilence, Destruction and Death. These are only aliases. Their real names are: Harry Stuhldreher, Don Miller, Jim Crowley, and Elmer Layden.” And with these words four men from Knute Rockne’s 1924 Notre Dame football team were immortalized in myth. A rare photo of those four dynamic players saddled up on horseback, wearing their full uniforms and carrying footballs. Original publishing marks around the head Stuhldreher’s horse add allure to an already highly desirable piece. There are some markings .5” in from the right and left border but do not interfere with the EX-MT nor does the paper loss on the reverse.
