Whether you see it as sports collectible or work of art, this captivating specimen comes from the popular and highly prized line of figural trophies issued by the Spalding sporting goods company in the 1920s and early 1930s. It's a striking piece that is marvelously evocative of this special time in our National Pastime. Standing an impressive 20" height, there is some minor wear to the black wooden base atop which stands a figural pitcher perched on a silver-plated baseball. There is no plaque on the base so this may have never been awarded. Suffers from a minor repaired crack in the ankle and one detached foot, and some tarnishing, but still in EX condition.
