1921 Cincinnati Reds Panoramic Team Photograph
Original panoramic photograph capturing twenty-five members of the 1921 Cincinnati Reds standing shoulder-to-shoulder at Braves Field in 1921, including Edd Roush, Eppa Rixey, Rube Marquard, Heinie Groh, Dolf Luque, and manager Pat Moran. This is an attractive photo, with nearly the entire outfield signage and scoreboard visible in the background. The white-letter caption along the base reads "Cincinnati Baseball Club National League Braves Field, Boston May 19, 1921. The photographer's credit (partially obscured by the frame) appears in the lower left corner. Just two years removed from their World Championship over the infamous Chicago White Sox, this club featured six starters from the 1919 club, but the results were far from the same. The Reds finished with a record of 70-83 in 1921, which merited a sixth place finish in the National League. On the date of this photo, the Reds lost 5-1 to the Braves, with Rube Marquard the pitcher of record in the defeat. The photo (28x6.25"; visible dimensions), which appears to be dry mounted to a cardboard backing, displays a few moderate creases in the upper-right corner, as well as a few abrasions and areas of bubbling from the dry mounting process. Framed to total dimensions of 30.5x8.5". Please note: the size and/or weight of this lot will necessitate an increased shipping charge.
