1921 New York Yankees World Series Signed Baseball with Babe Ruth
This signed baseball is from the 1921 World Series, notable for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that it was the first World Series that the Yankees appeared in and the first World Series that Babe Ruth appeared in as a Yankee. The 1921 New York Yankees season was the 19th season for the legendary ball club. For the first time in World Series play, all games were held at one site: the Polo Grounds in New York, with the home team alternating. The Yankees sub-leased the Polo Grounds from the New York Giants from 1913 through 1922. In the 1921 World Series, the New York Giants beat the New York Yankees five games to three. This was the last of the experimental best-of-nine series. This Official American League (Johnson) baseball was possibly a game ball but is still in EX condition. The vintage Babe Ruth black fountain ink signature is on the sweet spot and grades 6/10. On one panel, Miller Huggins has signed (3/10) and added "World Series 21" under his name. Another side panel has the signatures of Waite Hoyt (5/10), Bob Shawkey (5/10), Carl Mays (8/10) and Frank Roth (5/10). Without a doubt, this ball is a most historic Yankees orb. It includes an LOA from JSA.
