1922-23 Harry Greb Signed Oversized Photograph to his Manager Joe Sanders
The only man to defeat Gene Tunney in the ring, Harry Greb starred in the 1910s and '20s. He was ranked as the #1 middleweight and #2 pound-for-pound fighter by the International Boxing Research Organization and the #5 fighter of all-time by Bert Sugar.Perhaps the best Greb signed image in existence, it features the newly crowned champ in an artful full-length studio pose. Bottom reads "Harry Greb, Light Heavy Weight Champion of America." Perfectly signed, large and bold, on the white background "My 'Pal' and 'Trainer' Joe Sanders from Harry Greb" in 9.5/10 steel-tip black fountain pen. There are a couple of light scuffs and minor surface creases, and cracks which do not significantly detract from the overall majesty of the piece. Double-matted and framed 24.25x21" (13x10" visible). Comes with 7x5" image of a young Sanders as a boxer.
