1922 Babe Ruth Suspension Original Photograph

1922 Babe Ruth Suspension Original Photograph

Titled "Lonesome Babe," this exceptional, original photo depicts Babe Ruth in street clothes on Opening Day of the 1922 season as he began a month-and-a-half suspension handed down by Commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis, who was enraged by The Bambino‚s participation in a barnstorming tour following the 1921 campaign. The image measures roughly 6x7" and is guaranteed to be a Type I designation by PSA. There is a Ring Book Shop sticker on the back, as well as some tape residue and light writing, but that hardly diminishes the condition, which is Excellent. Even though the image in the included write-up is somewhat different, it is the same one that was used in the original story. Fellow Yankee Bob Meusel was also suspended for his role in the barnstorming, a practice Landis despised as he believed it detracted from the World Series, which he considered the crown jewel of the postseason.
