1922 Christy Mathewson Signed Check
This uniquely talented Hall of Fame pitcher for the New York Giants fell victim to poison gas during WWI, which caused health problems that led to his early death in 1925. Check made payable to R.H. Hutchins for $17.07 is filled out entirely and signed in Mathewson’s NRMT hand. Various creases run through the check, but the ink is not affected. Also included is the 1954 postmarked envelope from Mrs. Christy Mathewson in which this check was mailed to a collector.
