1922 Shoeless Joe Jackson Is Innocent Broadside (ex-Jackson Family Scrapbook)

1922 Shoeless Joe Jackson Is Innocent Broadside (ex-Jackson Family Scrapbook)

An incredible handout from Joe's circa 1922 agent, Ed "Square Deal" Phelan; this "used car dealer" type promoter was at the time controlling the barnstorming scene as co-promoter of the New York Semi-Professional Baseball Association. Awesome wording on this approximately 6x8" cardboard handout tells all comers to "put up or shut up." This is from the scrapbook of Joe Jackson himself. One of the best pieces in the collection, it is still affixed to the original scrapbook page, taped at top and shows other wear. One of two discovered, these are the only period pieces we have ever seen that promotes the innocence of Shoeless Joe.
