1923 Babe Ruth World Series Photograph (PSA Type I)
Displayed is a compelling Type I action shot of Babe Ruth sliding safely into third with a triple in the fifth inning of Game 1 of the 1923 World Series at Yankee Stadium. This World Series would become the first time that the New York Yankees won a World Series championship. Ruth was only 28 years old in 1923 and in still in good physical condition. He demonstrates an athletic hook slide to evade the tag of the New York Giants third baseman Heinie Groh. Ruth was the American League MVP in 1923 with a tremendous year. He batted .393 and led the AL in numerous categories, including: homers (41), RBIs (130) and OPS (1.309). This World Series was played in the first year of the Yankees' new home at Yankee Stadium, known as "The House That Ruth Built."
