1923 Muehlebach Field Opening Day Program from the Kansas City Blues
The opening of Muehlebach Field was a real event in Kansas City, as can be seen by this classy and significant dedication program from the new ballpark's first event, a July 3, 1923 AA game between the K.C. Blues and Milwaukee Brewers. It was just the start of a long and rich history in which the park, which was also home of the K.C. Monarchs and thus bore witness to Satchel Paige and Jackie Robinson's Negro league exploits. It was renamed Blues Stadium when the Yankees acquired the team as a minor-league affiliate in '37, then Municipal Stadium in '55 to house the A's. 7 3/4 x 10 3/4" program has a handsome brown cover with gold trim, protective paper leaves inside the front and back covers, and pages upon pages of information, photos and ads featuring Blues players like Bunny Brief and Ferd Schupp. EX+.
