Traditional black colleges fielded exceptional football teams, and this postcard from West Virginia Collegiate Institute promotes its big battle with Lincoln University of Pennsylvania on Saturday, October 27, 1923 as Laidley Field in Charleston, WV. It's a terrific team photo and the reverse features a hand-written note to someone named Lula Walker, regretting the fact that she cannot attend the game. VG-EX.
