1923 Opening Day at Yankee Stadium Program

1923 Opening Day at Yankee Stadium Program

The House That Ruth Built hosted its very first baseball game on April 18, 1923, and here's the iconic program from that inaugural event, highlighted by distinct, historic graphics. Less than two dozen copies still exist, and this is one of the rare examples. The classic cover has the look of the Harry M. Stevens New York World Series "programmes" of the day. It introduces Babe Ruth and his new playground to the world. These Bronx bombers did not disappoint, either, with the Babe hitting an Opening Day, three-run blast to christen baseball's Taj Mahal. The back cover has been replaced, as well as some other professional restoration present. The insides are clean, and the scorecard is scored in pencil. Thanks mostly to The Babe, the Yankees opened with a 4-1 victory over the arch rival Red Sox.

Addendum: Only the back cover has been replaced, not the front cover as stated in the description.
