1923 Yankee Stadium Opening Day Ticket Stub
The House that Ruth Built opens for business. You could count the remaining rain checks from this most significant event on Mordecai Brown's pitching hand. Historic words on this 1.25x3.5" relic read, "Rain Check to be detached by gateman. Good only for the first game played Yankee Stadium. Season 1923. Jacob Ruppert, President." Light creasing and small smudge could have been suffered on that day, as a fan watched the Babe christen the park with its first home run. Otherwise, this stub is remarkably strong. Frame it with a photo of the Stadium (perhaps one from the Osborne archives in this auction?) for a display sure to make your Yankee friends green with envy.
