1924 Paris Summer Olympics Poster with museum provenance
Vive le France! This original poster for the 1924 Summer Olympic Games in Paris (the VIII Olympiad) features shirtless young male athletes with the French flag serving as a backdrop. Mounted on linen and measuring 49" x 33", it is immaculate after a few undetectable restorations, which were expertly done. There are no pieces missing, just tears and touch-ups. The famous poster was the brainchild of artist, painter, illustrator, writer, publicist, scout and teacher Jean Droit. This has been de-acquistioned by the Helms Museum in Los Angeles. With a rich Olympic tradition, Helms was funded by the 1932 Olympic Games and again in the 1984 version.
